The Weapons of Our Warfare
0 Amens
When I came into the Church in the early 1990's there was a very big emphasis on what Christians were calling "Spiritual Warfare." This included a lot of rebuking the devil and making claims, "in the name of Jesus." I am convinced that much if not all of this teaching is in error.
You may say that I am the one in error, but as I taught my way through the book of Ephesians and first John a couple of years ago I was able to put the Armor of God and the claims of "Greater is He that is in you...." into perspective according to the context of the letters and not according to some modern idea of what i would like it to be about.
As a result I also went to another classic "Spiritual Warfare" passage, 2 Corinthians 10:4-6 and found it to be more about good teaching and church discipline than about quoting the right verse when I am being "oppressed."
I pray that you would listen to this message and hear the ring of truth as it is put into its proper context and the meaning is then taken from the passage.
