Act(s) XVIb - Scene IV, V, and VI
Acts chapter 16 concludes with the account of Paul and Silas encountering the servant girl possessed by a spirit of fortune-telling (and some unscrupulous businessmen as well) and Paul speaking deliverance to her by the Spirit of God. This account is rich with lessons concerning God's Sovereignly ordering our steps, even when it may look like we have missed Him. We learn how we should respond in the midst of a crisis or time of adversity. And we are reminded of a simple grasp of a simple message. This sermon concludes with a brief look at the apostle Paul, not so meek and mild.

A Call to Arms

Highlighted from the 14th chapter of Acts are the courage to proclaim in the face of opposition; the importance of casting off those things which counter our being useful to the Master for His purpose; and the inevitability of trials and tribulations. Acts 13 contains three main points. God has established our lines or boundaries and they are pleasant and good. Also, Satan always offers a counterfeit of God's power, due to the fact the kingdom of darkness is a slice out of the kingdom of Heaven. Lastly, the inclusion of the unincluded is part of our mandate as kingdom subjects and servants of the King, Jesus the Christ.

Being Naturally Supernatural
To play off a quote of Mark Twain, the report of the death of signs and wonders has been greatly exaggerated. We are natural beings living in a natural world with a supernatural mission. That mission is to reach into the world of darkness and by the power of the Lord Almighty bring out those lost souls and make disciples of Jesus Christ of them. How can this be accomplished without the help of a supernatural God? This is a balanced, truthful message about operating in a realm in which God shows his power and might on our and others behalf.

In a day when many in leadership and power demonstrate disregard and opposition to the followers of Jesus Christ, how shall we respond? Should we become gripped with fear and hibernate? The Danger of Introspection
Self-preseveration and self-focus are the anti-thesis to a walk of humility and obedience to the Lord Jesus in His kingdom. The more we move away from self, the closer we get to the elevated plane God intends for us to live. This message lists the dangers and pitfalls to watch for and avoid.
