Shepherding God's Church Part 3

A leader in one arena of life isn't necessarily suitable for other arenas. No place is this truer than the one holy, apostolic and universal church left to us by the Lord Jesus. While we should be most grateful for a 'tough-as-nails' general to keep our borders safe or a savvy CEO to deliver generous yields to our shares of stock, we can't assume their skill sets and success transfer. If the American church keeps taking (or synthesizing) her cues from the boardroom or the war room, we will likely become worldly, distracted, boring, combative, irrelevant and—most seriously— in eyes of God, ineffective. Listen in as we learn what biblical leadership looks like as they submit to the Chief Shepherd!

Shepherding God's Church Part 2

Churches shouldn't settle. But often an unhealthy cycle of settling for leaders who settle for less (or more) than the prescriptions of Biblical doctrine and church practice eventually results in whole congregations who settle. It's never too late, however, for a church to insist on godly undershepherds and MORE of them. What qualities should a church be looking for in her leaders? Listen in as Will explores the difference between good leaders and godly ones.

Shepherding God's Church Part 1

What comes to mind when you hear the word pastor? There are perceptions and opinions. But can the question be answered without invoking a bad memory or a good experience? Preachers, power-brokers, pansies, cheerleaders, politicians, counselors, therapists, puppets, golfers, social media personalities. The list goes on. Whether or not you're a pastor, the question needs a clear answer. The best person to consult actually isn't in the employ of a church. It's best to go to the source itself— The Bible. Human models aren't bad secondary sources, though, so long as they are godly— and point you to the Source. So what exactly is a pastor? Give a listen as Will explains!

Miracles Are Just a Beginning

After Luke records the resurrection and ascension of Jesus, the day of Pentecost, a few healings here and there and the dramatic conversion of St. Paul, do we need MORE healing stories? God must think so. We tend not to think of miracles as boring, but when it's on the pages of Holy Writ, we might strangely (yet naturally) be tempted to treat the miraculous as mundane. So what exactly is the purpose? Listen in as Will continues in our series!

A Marked Man

Have you ever had the pleasant experience of someone mistaking you for a celebrity or for being younger than you actually are? Mistaken identities can work for or against us sometimes. Maybe a certain past blunder or occupation haunts you. Closets with skeletons are best kept shut (so we think), and delinquent records are hopefully expunged. How do you identify with Jesus Christ? Do others know you're his follower? More pointedly: how do you know you're a Christian? A couple right answers include: Scripture tell us, and so does the Holy Spirit. What would you do, say or think if you were Paul the Apostle? What do you make of the life who went from hunter to hunted? Last Sunday, we discovered that truly meeting Jesus turns you from his enemy to his servant. What then? See the next 'chapter' of your Christian story through Paul's.
