Ecclesiastes 12:8-14

We don’t like to think about God as being someone that we should be afraid of.  We would much rather think of God as a kindly grandfather who gives presents but never disciplines.  King Solomon concludes his words by reminding us that we are all accountable to God.  Someday we will all stand before Him and give an account for our actions.  Because of this we should fear His discipline and judgment and obey His commands.  These words can be painful to hear, but Solomon says that wise words are often painful but they are the poking and prodding from a good Shepherd who is trying to guide His foolish and stubborn sheep.
