The Gospel Driven Church
One of the most important questions you can ask about ministry is: What kind of church do we want? What kind of church are we seeking to plant, grow and be? The purpose of this paper is to challenge you to think clearly about what kind of church you are aiming for, by presenting how we at Harbor Church are thinking about this.

Seven Signs of Revival - Revelation 3:14-20
Series: Preparing for What's Ahead (Part 6) – This sixth sermon in the series puts forth the proposition that Christians must join together and commit to specific actions that both call upon God and engage followers of Christ to confront head on the destructive powers and forces that are subtly but surely propelling us to catastrophe. You will hear Pastor Terry warn that, "The 'party' is almost over." This sermon builds upon the foundation of individual response that was introduced in the previous sermon by disclosing seven signs that have characterized previous times of personal and culturally transforming spiritual revival. Jesus' message to the early church located in the city of Laodicea is brought forward as a call to people to unite in inviting Jesus to come into our lives and churches, moving us to change the way we are living so that the classic signs of revival will emerge and result in unprecedented numbers of people turning to God.

What You Can Do - Numbers 13:1-3, 26-14:10a
Series: Preparing for What's Ahead (Part 5) – In this fifth sermon in the series, we will be moving from apocalyptic and prophetic Scriptures to a portion of narrative from Numbers 13 and 14 that will serve as an example of faithfulness in the face of overwhelming disbelief and unfaithfulness. Caleb and Joshua serve as illustrative examples of why it is that those faithful to God go through difficult times with those who choose to turn away from God. You will learn one of the most important things you can do to serve God faithfully as ever more difficult days come. Finally, you will receive step-by-step instructions that will provide you with you a way to join with a growing number of Christians who desire to be of the greatest use to God in the fulfillment of God's sovereign purposes and plans.

It Will Happen Again - Revelation 13
Series: Preparing for What's Ahead (Part 4) – In this fourth sermon we will be returning to Revelation 13, this time with a considered look back at an important period in recent history that serves to show us that, even though we may struggle to believe what the Bible teaches us, the unimaginable and unthinkable will take place. Building upon the previous sermons in the series, you will learn not only what is going to occur, but also why. While the disclosures are disturbing and troubling, you will hear that God has provided faithful followers of the Lord Jesus Christ with certain promises and assurances that will encourage your heart and help you live in and through these difficult days.

What in the World is Apocalyptic? - Revelation 1:1-20
Series: Preparing for What's Ahead (Part 2) - The literary genre known as "apocalyptic" was introduced in the first sermon (September 27, 2009) of this series. In this second sermon you will learn more about apocalyptic. Ten guidelines (with thanks to Dr. David R. Mains) for understanding apocalyptic are presented and explained. These guidelines will enable you to better understand the meaning of those parts of the Bible that contain the strange symbols, numbers and events that characterize the apocalyptic literary form. You will come to know, too, why God chose apocalyptic to communicate with those who lived at the time the words were written, and why it is important for us to hear what God is saying to us nearly two thousand years later.

Jesus Prepared Himself...How Much More Must We!
Jesus was being prepared to serve God at this time of his life, as he was to start his earthly ministry. In order to be able to do this he had to be completely seperated from the world and focus solely on God for 40 days. The only way Jesus could withstand temptation was: 1) He was filled with the Holy Spirit. 2) He was led for time alone with God. 3) He was led to be tempted. 4) He was led to fast and pray. Are we doing all these things as well?
