I will build my Church - Part 1

Confidence that our church will grow is not based on size, resources, staff or money. Our confidence comes from three assurances in Matthew 16: Jesus is the Messiah, the Son of God; Jesus promised to build his church; Jesus will not allow the evil one to prevail. Although Jesus could build his church without us, he graciously allows us to be involved. But before we begin to fly, we need to learn some principles of flying.

Father's Day - Building a Firm Foundation

Parents and Grandparents can play a vital role in laying a foundation of Jesus Christ in the lives of their children and grandchildren. However it is important to understand the limitations of what God allows us to do. We need to do our part, trust God to do his part, and allow people to make their own response. With God there is always hope. The Good Shepherd continues to seek out our children and grandchildren. No prodigal is ever beyond hope or beyond reach.

Looking Towards Heaven

For Christians this world is not as good as it gets. Jesus has gone back to his father's house and is adding on a room for you and for me. When the Father decides the time is right, the Son will come and take us home to a place that is better than we could think or imagine. To understand John 14:1-6 we need to understand the Jewish marriage tradition. When we explore this tradition the hope of heaven comes alive in fresh new ways.

Saying Sorry, No Ifs, No Buts

"I'm Sorry" is a short sentence but one of the hardest to say. The Bible has some good advice on how to apologise. The hard part is putting it into practice.

Dealing with Temptation

We sin because we have a sinful nature and we give into temptation. The Genesis 3 account of the fall of Adam and Eve provides us with many practicel strategies for dealing with temptation. For example: "Stay away from the tree - If you can't reach it, you can't eat it". God has given us His Spirit to help us deal with temptation. As Christians we live with the hope of heaven where sin and temptation will no longer be issues we have to deal with.
