2 Corinthians 6: A Greater Pleasure Than Sin

God: more pleasurable than unprotected sex with someone who's perishing? Yes, it's possible. The most famous dating verse doesn't even address dating--directly, anyway. In 2 Corinthians 6:14 Paul warns believers not to be unequally yoked together with unbelievers.
While Paul's immediate concern was not that Christians were dating non-Christians and going clubbing with them all night, the sin was similar: they were uniting themselves with unbelievers in idol's temples and at pagan feasts.
Paul's response to this was "don't partner-up with unbelievers" in relationships that can potentially--and easily--give Jesus' values and reputation a black eye, not to mention bring great heartache to you. Unbelievers don't prioritize Jesus and his mission; they don't love and worship God; they don't seek to be ruled by him. This is never more clear than when you marry one.
After his famous prohibition, Paul lays out God's glorious and intimate promises to make us his sons and daughters, to a father to us, to walk among us. These are greater than the passing pleasures of sin. King David knew the pleasure of God, exlaiming in Psalm 16:11: "In your presence there is fullness of joy; and at your right hand pleasures forevermore."
But we doubt these promises because we haven't fully tasted and seen that the Lord is good. That's why sin is so tasty.
