John 8:12-30
Jesus is the light of the world. What did Jesus mean by this statement? By saying that he was the light of the world, Jesus declares the revelation that God the Son has come to shine light into darkness, to redeem His people. As the light of the world, we not only get salvation...we get Jesus.
John 7:53-8:11
Jesus' grace transforms us. Not only does the Gospel free us but calls us to go and sin no more. When the Pharisees brought the adulterous woman before Jesus, they attempted to trap Jesus yet Jesus showed them something they weren't expecting. The forgiveness Jesus gives is big enough to cover both the woman's adultery and the self-righteousness of the Pharisee.
SHIFT: Making Disciples
If the Whole Church is going to take the Whole Gospel to the Whole World, then the church must commit to making disciples. In the Bible there is no differentiation between believer and disciple. They are the same thing. When Jesus calls people to Himself, He calls people to follow Him as disciples with the mission of making disciples. We musth SHIFT toward being disciples who make disciples.
SHIFT: Prayer
If we are going to see the Church mobilized to take the Gospel to the World, we must shift toward a life of prayer. Prayer is the business of the Church. Prayer is about dependency upon God's movement and grace upon us to do His work through us in the World.
SHIFT: It's Not About Me
What's the biggest thing in our lives that must shift for the Gospel to be taken to the World? We must get out of the center of our lives. It is not about me. It's not about you. It's about Jesus and His mission. Jesus must shift to the center of our lives if we are to shift toward taking the Gospel to the nations.
