At Applewood Community Church our mission and greatest desire is to see all people become fully devoted followers of Jesus Christ. We believe that people can only experience the deepest joy and most profound peace in life when they are rightly related to God, their Creator. Unfortunately, the Bible teaches that no one is able to achieve a relationship with God on their own. There is a barrier called sin that separates people from God. No amount of human goodness or effort can remove the barrier. People who remain separated from God in this life, will stay separated from Him after death for eternity.
Fortunately, there is a solution to this problem. In fact, God solved the problem Himself. The Bible teaches that God loves people so much that He sent His Son Jesus Christ to die on a cross almost 2000 years ago. In His death Jesus took upon Himself the sins of all people. Perhaps even more amazing is that He did not stay dead! He came back to life, and when He did that, He provided the way for people to have a relationship with God. Speaking of his own death and resurrection Jesus said “I am the way, the truth and the life. No one can come to the Father except through me.” (John 14:6)
Because of Jesus Christ, you can have a relationship with God, knowing joy and peace in your life like never before. The Bible says that “if you confess with your mouth that Jesus is Lord, and believe in your heart that God raised him from the dead, you will be saved.” (Romans 10:9) To be saved means that you are no longer separated from God by sin. You have been saved from you sins into a relationship with God for this life and all of eternity.
If this sounds like something you have been searching for, I hope that you will do what the Bible says in the verse above. It is really quite simple, but nonetheless, it is a decision that you must make. To confess Jesus as Lord means that you agree with what the Bible says about your being a sinner, separated from God, and that Jesus is the only way you can have a relationship with God. To believe that God raised him from the dead means that you believe God took care of your sin problem and wants to have a relationship with you. If you sincerely believe these truths, you can know for sure that you have been given a new life, one that allows you to know God and be loved by Him.
As pastor of Applewood Community Church, I would love to know that you have made this life changing decision. Would you write or email and tell me of your decision? I, and the people of this congregation, would love to be able to pray for you and encourage you in your new life. God bless you!
