Proverbs 13:12
Hope deferred makes the heart sick, but a longing fulfilled is a tree of life.
We get disappointed at the things we hope to see God do in our lives but they don’t happen
Life is not how I though it would be….
Dreams we never see realised
Circumstances in our lives tell us things like:
God doesn’t care about me.
None of the big dreams that I had in my life have come to pass
Fulfilling God’s will in a person’s life only happens to the select few, and its not for me.
So often I put my hope in the circumstance
I hope for something to happen, perhaps that’s not what God had in mind.
What if His plans for me are different to what I originally thought.
Have I ever been wrong about the will of God before?
Jesus lived every minute of every day doing the Father’s work.
John 21
25Jesus did many other things as well. If every one of them were written down, I suppose that even the whole world would not have room for the books that would be written.
Who knows what plans and what God’s will for you is and the most unexpected times?
Regardless what has happened, God wants me to put my hope in Him, not what I want Him to do for me.
If I never see Him do another thing for me, what would I think of Him?
1 Peter 2:6
For in Scripture it says: "See, I lay a stone in
I like to understand why things have happened in my life.
Why I haven’t seen the power of God like I have hoped to.
I don’t need to understand.
Sometimes God brings understanding into a situation, and that’s a blessing, but if He doesn’t, I don’t need to try and get there myself
I don’t understand what is going on, so in an effort to understand, I find something that helps me feel better in my position.
Proverbs 3
5 Trust in the LORD with all your heart
and lean not on your own understanding;
6 in all your ways acknowledge him,
and he will make your paths straight. [a]
7 Do not be wise in your own eyes;
fear the LORD and shun evil.
8 This will bring health to your body
and nourishment to your bones.
We are to to have faith in, depend on or trust in our own understanding.
Trusting God will often go against my understanding.
My response in the time of disappointment is what matters.
I need to acknowledge my disappointment before God
I must NOT accuse God of anything
I need to allow Him to meet me in my disappointment.
Room to come and bring God your disappointment
Don’t accuse Him, but after you have expressed your disappointment, allow Him to meet you in that place of disappointment.
