Matthew 18

Complementing, not Comparing
“Jesus called a child to Himself and set him before them, and said, ‘Truly I say to you, unless you are converted and become like children, you will not enter the kingdom of heaven. Whoever then humbles himself as this child, he is the greatest in the kingdom of heaven.’” 18:2 - 4

• Know yourself

• Be yourself

Interdependence, not Independence
“If your brother sins, go and show him his fault in private; if he listens to you, you have won your brother.” 18:15
Rules without relationship leads to rebellion
Relationship with rules leads to righteousness

“if anyone is caught in any trespass, you who are spiritual, restore such a one in a spirit of gentleness” Galatians 6:1

“Truly I say to you, whatever you bind on earth shall have been bound in heaven; and whatever you loose on earth shall have been loosed in heaven.” 18:18

Forgiving, not fighting
“Peter came and said to Him, ‘Lord, how often shall my brother sin against me and I forgive him? Up to seven times?”’ 18:21

“I do not say to you, up to seven times, but up to seventy times seven.” 18:22

“the master of that servant was moved with compassion, released him, and forgave him the debt.” 18:27

“Forgive one another as quickly and thoroughly as God in Christ forgave you.” Ephesians 4:32

Focus on what Jesus has done for you,
not what people have done to you.

Verse of the Week: “where two or three have gathered together in My name, I am there in their midst.” Matthew 18:20
