Advent #5: A Family Reconciled

None of us come from a perfect family. God has always wanted to see us, His children, together with Him. Yet there is so much brokenness among us, whether it be the mistakes we've made, the resentment we hold on to, or the constant desire to earn our own favor. How do we get the family back together? Our Father is inviting you to come inside and have a meal with the family!

Advent #4: Light Has Dawned

Have you ever gotten lost in the dark? It can be scary not knowing where you are or what's around you. That's why the Bible describes Jesus coming like a light shining in the darkness. We didn't know where to go, but He was just what we needed! God's passionate zeal for us will bring about true completeness.

Advent #2: Prepare the Way

We love to sing about "peace on earth" this time of year, but how can we even take a short rest with so much going on? A cozy fireplace, shimmering candlelight, slowly drifting off to sleep...These are the things we like to associate with peace. The Bible, on the other hand, describes peace being like shoes on our feet. With the spirit of anticipation that comes with Advent, are we settling in our sofas or tying our shoelaces? The Lord is coming soon. Are we preparing the way with peace?

Advent #1: The Great Expectation

Do you know that feeling on Christmas, or perhaps the day after, when everything is winding down and you just feel let down and think, "It's over..."? People throughout history and today have had a problem with misplaced expectations. Even when we hear from God, what we hope in can twist His meaning into something that fits our own ideas better. It's no wonder that when we hope in God's provision rather than His presence, we grow discontent. What are you hoping for?
