Religiously Incorrect

Preaching from the gospel of Luke, Pastor Doug looks at Jesus' interaction with Zacchaeus and the religious leaders. Jesus was, as Doug says, "religiously incorrect": He routinely goes against the expectations of what religious people believed. In this story, Jesus is criticized for being a friend to sinners and tax collectors, but to Jesus, tax collectors and sinners were not garbage to be thrown out, but people to be redeemed. Every person is redeemable. Jesus sits and eats with sinners because His mission is to seek and save the lost. The mission of the Church, is also to seek and save the lost. So go, and be religiously incorrect: sit and eat with those who have been considered garbage, but Jesus sees as redeemable.
