Restoration of the Mind (Ephesians 4:17-24)
Restoring our minds is similar to restoring furniture. You strip the layers, you stain it and then you seal it. It took me two years to restore my husband’s great aunt’s sewing machine. In restoring furniture first, we have to strip away the years of wear and tear – the paint, the dirt and the grime. As we pass through life, we experience things that affect our minds, both right and wrong. We must strip away those wrong thinking patterns. There are thousands upon thousands of thoughts presented to us every day through words and images, from media and people. How do we respond to them?

Underbrush (James 3:1-12)
There is a remedy for the underbrush of our lives, a way to make us less susceptible to the fiery tongues we encounter – we can call on the Holy Spirit to do a controlled burn in our lives, to burn away all that is not love.

Surrounded (Psalm 125)
Trust, security and peace are found in the surrounding presence of God. The psalmist speaks of conditions that make a person secure like a mountain, unshakable and strong. Mountain-like security only comes from trusting God: As the mountains surround Jerusalem, the Lord surrounds his people now and forever. This is Gods position – what is ours?
