Visitors that have come to our Vancouver church are constantly telling us that this is the most comfortable church they’ve been to. We’ve had others say that they honestly feel like they could fall apart here and feel safe doing so. What amazing comments from such amazing people. We can’t claim that we’re doing anything special; it really isn’t about us at all. What we’re doing has all been done before; In Acts 2:42 it says that the 1st century church “…devoted themselves to the apostles’ teaching and the fellowship, to the breaking of bread and the prayers.” This is what we call ‘keeping the main things, the main things.” We don’t believe striving for relevance, having a high production value marketing video of our church, or changing our appearance to appeal to the masses will mean anything at all. Jesus is who He is and all we have to do is teach His word, hang out together, and pray. Come as you are and don’t worry about what not to wear. We often come in shorts and t-shirts or whatever the weather allows us.
Our church services are simple…We come, we laugh, have great worship, have fellowship, and then hear a sermon that is taught chapter by chapter and verse by verse. We do not take up tithes or offerings at Calvary Chapel. There’s a box at the back if you choose to worship in that format, but we’ll never push in you in that direction…it is completely between you and the Lord.
We have a wide range of ages at Calvary Chapel Vancouver. From the young to the old, there is something for everyone here. Our church facility has everything from a Senior’s room to a nursery room, Sunday school room, and a prayer room.
We want to be a Vancouver church without walls that gathers the scattered and sends the called. We don’t believe that God necessarily calls the equipped, but we can certainly read in the Bible that He equips the called. So if you feel that you’ve had this nagging sense of wanting to do something in His Kingdom, whatever it may be, come and talk with us. We’re a group of dreamers that desire to see lives changed, renewed, inspired, and maybe even sent. Discipleship is very important to us and we have discipleship programs and home groups in place that will help you grow from wherever you’re at.
