What happens if the only time you eat is Sunday’s?

“People who are obsessed with God have an intimate relationship with Him. They are nourished by God’s word throughout the day because they know that forty minutes on Sunday is not enough to sustain them for a whole week....”

Psalm 34:8-10. Life Application Commentary:

“This is not a blanket promise that you will have everything you want. Instead, this is a praise for God’s goodness- all those who call upon the Lord in their need will be answered, sometimes in unexpected ways…. God may allow you to go without to help you grow more dependent on Him. He may want you to learn that you need HIM more than you need your immediate desires.”

Charolette Elliot story

19th Century, England.

1st 30 years- Christian home, very happy, even made part living as a comedy writer.

After 30th birthday, stricken with debilitating pain and constant tiredness- left her wheelchair bound and in bed much time.

Turned bitter, blaming God. The Enemy- “what use are you now. Just a drain on your family.”

Father invited a minister over and they talked. Charolette poured out her bitterness and despair, “I have nothing.”

He told her that’s exactly what God wanted- to simply come as she was: her broken body, bitterness, despair… seek His provision, not her lack.

She did- and that was the day she went from utter despair to saving faith in Jesus Christ.

God wasn’t done- He gave her something- spoke to her heart and she wrote down what He spoke. The song was “Just As I Am”
