A Study of 2nd Corinthians // Part 3 // Wednesdays // January 17, 2018 // CAPSTONE CHURCH SERMON

This week, Senior Pastor Parkey Cobern teaches part 3 of “A Study of 2nd Corinthians,” delving into the first of many book studies taking place this year. For the second part, Pastor Parkey looks at the ministry of the Spirit as addressed in 2 Corinthians 3.
We learn that Paul traveled without letters from other churches to confirm the validity of his ministry, but rather (unlike other ministers), he traveled with the Holy Spirit! And with the Holy Spirit, there came an “end” to the law that bound the jewish believers to whom he preached, in that a new covenant was made with Christ, who fulfilled the old covenants. This was strange and new, as Israel was conformed to always having someone bridge the gap to God, without any direct connection themself. They needed to be transformed, which comes not from preaching but from the Presence of God! Where the Spirit is made Lord, and you submit to the transforming power of Christ, there is liberty!
In order to attain this liberty, you must do the following things:
  1. Submit to the work of the Holy Spirit.
  2. Be transparent in the presence of the Lord.
  3. Match your will to what you see in God’s presence.
  4. Experience the glory of God’s transforming power.
  5. Live in this reality and grow to be like Jesus!
