Home Away From Home

Our worldly homes may offer us temporary rest and protection, but they are still vulnerable to disaster. Our heavenly dwelling in God is unchanged by worldly power. When Jesus faced trial and temptation in the wilderness (Luke 4:1-13), he found his rest in the Father. We too, should seek rest and provision from our Lord at all times, but especially in the face of trials.

What's your view of the Bible?

Bill Bonham preached from a selection of scriptures including Deut 30:19, Isaiah 40:29-31, John 15:11, 1 Cor 2:9, Phil 3:13, and Luke 12:31, about the significance of the Bible and the various messages it holds. He also shared many of the attributes of God that are found in scripture.

Division in Perspective

"When division is in perspective, good, bad, true, false, life, and death are held by Jesus Christ." Dustin spoke about how differing perspectives can either divide or unify us. If we approach our differences with humility and trust in Christ, our relationships will flourish, but no relationship is possible where human pride is allowed to abound. We must filter our division through the Word of God.

Lasting Assumptions

Dustin preached on the assumptions that we make about our life, and how God is bigger than the limits that we place on ourselves, knowingly or otherwise. Sometimes we assume we know what God has planned for us, but his plans often shatter our assumptions completely. It's better to look to him to lead than to assume we know his will. In the same way, we make assumptions about others that reduce them to their talents, and in doing so, we miss out on relationship with them.

Walking With Luther As He Walks With Jesus

Luther's life is a testament to how the truth of the gospel will reach people. Luther devoted his life to exposing injustices and abuses in the Catholic church in order that the true gospel would reach the people. His intention was not to split the church, but to initiate discussion and change from within. While he was not entirely successful, he did bring about the broad distribution of the Bible to the masses.
