Romans Chapter Nine details a deep line of reasoning on the subject of Election. Paul is painfully reminded that his brothers (Israel) are now on the outside-looking-in. All of chapter nine, through the end of chapter eleven, is about one thing; the specific utilitarian purpose of God’s election of the Jewish people. There are a series of progressive questions asked (and answered) in Romans nine, providing a clear perspective of something otherwise confusing and discouraging. Paul takes what is personally painful, and shows it to be what it is; a thing of beauty.
