The Royal Law Of Relationships - The Perfect Standard

In Mark 12 Jesus recognises in the scribe's answer someone who understnads that at the heart of Royal Law of Relationship is the perfect standard of love - love to God and love to others - and that this is a summary of the 10 Commandments. No-one except Jesus christ has come up to this perfect standard. But Jesus sees in this mand someone who is not far from the requirements. But when we come in faith and repentance to Christ we will recieve the gift of Christ's righteousness and we will have the gift of the Holy Spirit within helping us to love God and our neighbour, although it is only in heaven weh this work will be completed

The Royal Law Of Relationship - Our relationship with others

Many think that having a moral code such as doing to others as we would have them do to ourselves or trying to follow the second table of God's 10 Commandments of loving others as ourselves, will be sufficient to make us acceptable to God. The encounter Jesus had with the Rich Young Ruler shows us that none of us come up to God's standards but that he loves us and wants us to come to that place of acknowledging our sin and find true riches in folowing Christ.

The Colours Of A Christian

There are three keys things that every christian should have; they should believe in the truths about God, they should love other people and they should love god and all that He wants in life. Without any of these, our faith in God will fall apart. So can we say that we truly show all of these things or 'colours' in our life?

The God Of Promise

Today, we get to read about the faith of two different people who, in some ways, trusted in God. Abraham and Lot were both people that believed in God, but only one of them had true faith that lasted. Lot wanted the things in this world, whilst abraham centered his entire faith and hope on God and his promises. Which are we more like in our walk with God, Abraham or Lot?

The Royal Law of Relationships - Our relationship with God

This sermon seeks to show that the first table of the Commandments (Commandments 1 to 4) sets out what our relationship with God should be. But as one theologian has said: even as God said "You shall not..." He also went on to say quietly, "But I know you will and so this is the way to get out of it." [1] THe very tabernacle that Moses put up in the wilderness points to that other way in the Lord Jesus Christ who perfectly fulfilled that law, both in His life and in laying down His life as a voluntary substitute to bear the punishment for our sins on the Cross.
