Kingdom Qualifiers (J Hayden 6/16/13)
Remember: our goal is not to see children become more like grownups, but that our grownups would become more like children; "for of such is the kingdom of God." They qualify!
Abounding Love (J Hayden 6/9/13)
The woman who washed Jesus' feet with her tears believed Jesus--and she was never the same again. "Your faith has saved you," Jesus told her, "Go in peace." Her faith had saved her; that was obvious from her works! The result was a heart abounding with love. Notice: She was not forgiven because she loved much; she loved much because she was forgiven much!
The Apostle's Prayer (J Hayden 6/2/13)
Paul blesses his readers with a heartfelt apostolic prayer that actually points to the effects of the “good work” that God had begun--and would surely complete--in them. And the tangible evidence of God’s grace working in them was not only in their labors with him in the proclamation of the gospel in Philippi, but their solidarity with him during his imprisonment.
Do I Have to Control Myself? (J Hayden 5/26/13)
We ask, "Do I have to control myself?" The better question is, "Do I GET to?" Yes, of course I do! Otherwise I would remain in bondage to sin! Yes, I can look forward to exhibiting that fruit of the Spirit . And the key is in the way we speak to one another. "If anyone does not stumble in word, he is a perfect man, able also to bridle the whole body" (James 3:2). "Death and life are in the power of the tongue" (Prov 18:21).
Greater Than Our Heart (J Hayden 5/19/13)
There are multitudes of unbelievers who are unconscious of their sin and the judgment of God that awaits them. At the same time, there are believers who are unconscious of God's total acceptance of them just the way they are! “...If our heart condemns us, God is greater than our heart, and knows all things” (1 John 3:20).
