Discipleship is not an advanced form of Christianity. "...The DISCIPLES were first called CHRISTIANS in Antioch" (Acts 11:26). Now, what are the terms of discipleship? What is the price of following Jesus?
How are we to view the practice of speaking in tongues in our assembly? We don't require it, seek it, or expect it--any more than it was expected the three times it occurred in the Bible. We certainly, can't forbid it either. The safest course for us is to simply insist on the same controls that Paul insisted on for the Corinthians.
Cornelius--as generous and devout and popular as he might have been--was lost without Christ, "having no hope and without God in the world" (Eph 2:12). The heart of Acts 10 is the message Peter needed to deliver even to such a nice gentleman.
