Is Jesus a Trader?
0 Amens
No more trading lunches!
I didn’t racca brood
Trade to advance, but if you die!
How is Jesus advanced?
WC&C = Humiliation à exaltation
Left praises of angels = endures the jeering of men
The one who is the exact image of God becomes a man to restore to humankind the image of God!
As believers, we are thankful that we don’t conceptualize Ideas about God = God in the flesh, and what is most important about God, we can see in the incarnation of Christ
This has real application = (Dennis Funeral – Jesus traded aspects of Divinity so he could embrace, purchase, sustain, and restore humanity for the final resurrection which will lead into a future estate of glory, where we will all be restored to bodies of flesh again! So right now, Dennis is in the presence of God, his soul is being comforted by God; But he is waiting – and I’m not sure how you wait in eternity – but there will be a change and a trade on a final day! A soul will be reunited with a real and brand new body designed to enjoy God in a new and restored reality that will be far more real than we know right now.
And there is some fore-shadowing of this trade agreement that God is going to enact…
-Trading in the Bible – Joseph
-Isaiah suffering servant for the benefit of others
-Matthew who is the wise merchant? What was he willing to trade in order to obtain something that was worth more? How do you measure the economics of that? (conclusion)
-Philippians 2 – he gave all in order that all would bow before him – give a proper confession
Sin = righteousness = 2 Corinthians
Romans 8:3 For God has done what the law, weakened by the flesh, could not do. By sending his own Son in the likeness of sinful flesh and for sin, he condemned sin in the flesh, in order that the righteous requirement of the law might be fulfilled in us, who walk not according to the flesh but according to the Spirit.
1 Peter
Death = life = Romans
Romans
Romans
Time = eternity = Hebrews
Suffering = Joy = Hebrews 12: 2 looking to Jesus, the founder and perfecter of our faith, who for the joy that was set before him endured the cross, despising the shame, and is seated at the right hand of the throne of God.
Poor = rich = 2 Corinthians 8:9 For you know the grace of our Lord Jesus Christ, that though he was rich, yet for your sake he became poor, so that you by his poverty might become rich.
Matthew who is the wise merchant? What was he willing to trade in order to obtain something that was worth more? How do you measure the economics of that? (conclusion) Priceless, what did Jesus give away to procure something that was the most valuable
