Christ Formed in You
Paul understood the goal of his ministry was to see Christ formed in them. This was very different from the false teachers who sought to make them in their own image, instead of Jesus'. Paul reveals his passion for them which results in his own emotional rollercoaster ride.

Sons and Heirs
The gospel brings us a new status- that of sons. Like the Galatians, we can slip back into living like slaves. But the Father sent His Son to redeem us that we might receive adoption as sons, and the Spirit to experience this status subjectively.

Law and Promise
Paul explains to the Galatians the relationship between Law and Promise, so they might understand the true purpose of the Law. We misuse the Law if we try to justify ourselves by it. It actually prepares us to receive the Promise by faith in Jesus Christ by revealing how disobedient we really are.

Faith or Observance of the Law
Paul continues his argument to show the Galatians that we are justified by faith, and not by works of the law (circumcision, ceremonial & moral law). He uses 3 arguments in this passage: the Galatians' own experience, Abraham's experience & the testimony of the Law. Faith rests or relies on Jesus for salvation, and receives the many blessings He has purchased for us.

Living in Line with the Gospel
False gospels produce pride and fear which destroy community. The gospel (we are accepted by God thru faith in Jesus' work for us) produces humility and security as a foundation for Christian community.

A Gospel-Changed Life
The false teachers challenged Paul's authority. Paul counters by pointing to the divine origins of his gospel, as evidenced by the remarkable about-face he experienced. False gospels typically put sanctification before justification, or merge them thereby departing from the gospel of grace.

No Other Gospel
There is (another) crisis over the gospel. It is not a matter of semantics, but one that revolves around whether or not we are united with Christ and recipients of grace. Paul here reveals some of the basic elements of the gospel while warning the Galatian churches they are in danger of severing themselves from Christ through this false teaching.

When Jesus Speaks
God has spoken most completely in His Son. Jesus' work for us includes His speaking as the eternal Son via the prophets, earthly Son during his ministry, and exalted Son thru the apostles to provide Scripture (inspiration). He now works in those who believe thru illumination that we might understand and apply Scripture. He also works thru us in evangelization & discipleship to help others understand and apply Scripture.
