Joy is meant to be an part of the normal Christian experience. Affliction and prosperity tend to stifle our joy, revealing our joy is being sought in something/someone besides Jesus. Joy prepares us to worship and moves us to freely dedicate ourselves, money and time to God to accomplish His mission.

Revival produces a renewed desire for obedience that flows out of faith and love. It produces a distinctive lifestyle in the city which does not follow the mold of the city. Jesus works thru this holy community to build the living temple & New Jerusalem.

God revives His people, restoring them to a normal spiritual experience. All Christians and churches experience times of spiritual entropy and apathy resulting in decline. In that distress, we are to remember God is a compassionate, covenant-keeping God and cry out to him, confessing our sin that He might restore us for the well-being of the city.

Nehemiah took steps to repopulate the city. He appointed men who would keep it safe, help them worship and instruct the people. Godly leaders create a safe environment for meaningful ministry (biblical worship & gospel-centered teaching).

Injustice and oppression in the covenant community dishonors God. Christ's ministry on our behalf frees us not only from guilt but the bondage of sin, particularly greed. He works in us that we might fear God and therefore become both just and generous. He works through us to free others from bondage through the gospel.
