Hungry for the Holy Spirit
The Day of Pentecost when the Holy Spirit came to fill believers is a perfect example of the fact that we have to hunger and thirst for the things of God if we are going to experience them. The disciples gathered every day for at least 30 days to pray and wait for the Holy Spirit. They were doing what Jesus told them to do. If we are going to receive all that God has for us, we are going to have to be hungry enough to do what the Bible says to do.

What are you hungry for
Have you ever had a craving for something, and no matter how much other stuff you eat, if it’s not what you were craving, it you will not be satisfied until you get what you were craving. Jesus said that we were supposed to hunger and thirst, or crave, after the things of God. A natural hunger will motivate you to do something. If we are truly hungering and thirsting for the things of God, we are willing to do something about it.

Good shepherds have good sheep
Jesus told us that He is the great shepherd. A shepherd’s job is to make sure that his sheep are provided for. This message talks about the fact that our shepherd has provided healing for us. As the title says: Good shepherds have good sheep. Bad shepherds have bad looking, sickly sheep. Thank God our Shepherd is a good one.

Accomplished at the Cross
There was a lot more accomplished at the Cross than just forgiveness of our sins. Jesus did more than just provide a way for us to go to heaven.

What How Why 2
What are we supposed to be doing? How are we supposed to be doing it? Why are we supposed to be doing it? Through time we lose sight of the answers to these questions: in our own lives, as well as in the church. Let’s look in the Bible, at the life of Jesus, to see the answers to these questions.

Fruit of the Spirit 6 – Kindness and Goodness
In this sermon, we look at the 5th and 6th fruits listed in Galatians 5:22 & 23. At first glance, these words seem to say the same thing, but on further study, we see that they are different aspects of love. Simply put, kindness is kind of like the love of a grandmother, just kind and not wanting to hurt anyone, willing to overlook things. Goodness, on the other hand, is like the love of a parent, especially of a loving father, that will confront and discipline their children when they need it. Goodness does the right thing regardless of the consequences. It’s interesting to note that both of these are listed as fruit that we are supposed to have operating in our lives. We have to know when and in what circumstance each is needed. We can trust the Holy Ghost to help us.

Fruit of the Spirit 5 – Patience
God has called and equipped Christians to walk in patience, in all areas of our lives. One aspect of patience that we will look at is being slow to anger. When we are quick to anger, the Bible says that we let down our defenses and that we look foolish. We are to walk in patience with each other as well as with the world. Peter and Paul both tell us to specifically watch how we act when we’re in front of people in the world so we won’t give them an excuse to criticize Christianity.

Freedom in Christ
We are free in Christ today. His death set us free forever from sin, our flesh, and the devil. From the world’s way of doing things. We have a better way of living our lives now.

Fruit of the Spirit 4 - Peace
Peace is more than just an absence of outward hostilities. It actually has nothing to do with how things are going on the outside. The peace of God comes from the inside. It has to do with completeness, wholeness. The man walking in peace knows that no matter what happens, God has provided for him to have the victory.

The Purpose of the Anointing of the Holy Spirit
Jesus came to reveal the Father to us. He said when He went away that the Father would send another, like Him, in His Place. That is who the Holy Spirit is. He is sent to give us the power to reveal the Father to the World. His job is to do the things that Jesus did on the earth, but He will only work with us, He will not do the work on His own. Jesus is not going to show up anywhere now and preach or lay hands on people. It’s up to us.
