Fruit of the Spirit 4 - Peace

Peace is more than just an absence of outward hostilities. It actually has nothing to do with how things are going on the outside. The peace of God comes from the inside. It has to do with completeness, wholeness. The man walking in peace knows that no matter what happens, God has provided for him to have the victory.

Gal 5:22

Definitions

2) peace between individuals, i.e. harmony, concord
3) security, safety, prosperity, felicity, (because peace and harmony make and keep things safe and prosperous)

a) the way that leads to peace (salvation)
5) of Christianity, the tranquil state of a soul assured of its salvation through Christ, and so fearing nothing from God and content with its earthly lot, of whatsoever sort that is

Dictionary
1. The absence of war or other hostilities.
2. Freedom from quarrels and disagreement; harmonious relations: roommates living in peace with each other.
3. Inner contentment; serenity: peace of mind.

Peace of the world is dictated by the outward, by how well things are going. Our faith will produce peace.
Joh 14:27 Peace I leave with you, my peace I give unto you: not as the world giveth, give I unto you. Let not your heart be troubled, neither let it be afraid.
Joh 16:33 These things I have spoken unto you, that in me ye might have peace. In the world ye shall have tribulation: but be of good cheer; I have overcome the world.
Rom 15:13 Now the God of hope fill you with all joy and peace in believing, that ye may abound in hope, through the power of the Holy Ghost.

Some things that it's not.

1Cr 14:33 For God is not [the author] of confusion, but of peace, as in all churches of the saints.

When they would be afraid at the appearance of Jesus after he was raised or an angel, they were always told "Peace"

Luk 12:51 Suppose ye that I am come to give peace on earth? I tell you, Nay; but rather division:

We have peace with God.
Rom 5:1 Therefore being justified by faith, we have peace with God through our Lord Jesus Christ:

Victory brings peace.

The peaceful man seeks to build up others.
Rom 14:19 Let us therefore follow after the things which make for peace, and things wherewith one may edify another.

We're to be at peace with all men.

How to get more peace
