Speak to the mountain

Speak to the mountain

Summary: Our words are what we use to attack the enemy.  When we say what God says to our enemies, it’s like shooting bullets at them.  When we talk the problem, it’s like throwing cookies at them.  Our words are the bullet, our mouth is the gun, but love is the firing pin.  We have got to get God’s word in our mouth and fire at the enemy that’s standing in our way.  We have to speak to the mountain.  Don’t ask God to do anything about it, stop crying about it.  Stop talking about how big it is, stop telling everyone you meet that will listen to you how big it is, and speak to it.  Command it to go!

Speak to the mountain.

Mr 11:12-14

12 ¶ On the next day, when they had left Bethany, He became hungry.  13  Seeing at a distance a fig tree in leaf, He went to see if perhaps He would find anything on it; and when He came to it, He found nothing but leaves, for it was not the season for figs. 14  He said to it, "May no one ever eat fruit from you again!" And His disciples were listening.

Mr 11:19-26

19  When evening came, they would go out of the city. 20  As they were passing by in the morning, they saw the fig tree withered from the roots up. 21  Being reminded, Peter said to Him, "Rabbi, look, the fig tree which You cursed has withered." 22  And Jesus answered saying to them, "Have faith in God. 23  "Truly I say to you, whoever says to this mountain, ‘Be taken up and cast into the sea,’ and does not doubt in his heart, but believes that what he says is going to happen, it will be granted him. 24  "Therefore I say to you, all things for which you pray and ask, believe that you have received them, and they will be granted you. 25  "Whenever you stand praying, forgive, if you have anything against anyone, so that your Father who is in heaven will also forgive you your transgressions. 26  [["But if you do not forgive, neither will your Father who is in heaven forgive your transgressions."]]

Jesus spoke to the tree, He didn’t ask it to die.  He didn’t talk about how pretty a tree it was.  After all, it did have fruit on it.  No, he cursed it, did not allow it to live in His Life any longer.

Words are our weapons

Eph 6:17

And take THE HELMET OF SALVATION, and the sword of the Spirit, which is the word of God.

Word here is “rhema” Strongs # G4487, means the “spoken word.”

Vines expository dictionary of New Testament words says:  “The significance of rhema (as distinct from logos) is exemplified in the injunction to take "the sword of the Spirit, which is the word of God," Eph 6:17; here the reference is not to the whole Bible as such, but to the individual scripture which the Spirit brings to our remembrance for use in time of need, a prerequisite being the regular storing of the mind with Scripture.”

2Co 10:3-5

3 For though we walk in the flesh, we do not war according to the flesh, 4  for the weapons of our warfare are not of the flesh, but divinely powerful for the destruction of fortresses. 5  We are destroying speculations and every lofty thing raised up against the knowledge of God, and we are taking every thought captive to the obedience of Christ,

The battlefield will be in your mind, but you don’t fight thoughts with other thoughts, you fight them with words.

Mt 4:1-11 Jesus tempted of the Devil spoke to him.

1 ¶ Then Jesus was led up by the Spirit into the wilderness to be tempted by the devil.  2  And after He had fasted forty days and forty nights, He then became hungry. 3  And the tempter came and said to Him, "If You are the Son of God, command that these stones become bread." 4  But He answered and said, "It is written, ‘MAN SHALL NOT LIVE ON BREAD ALONE, BUT ON EVERY WORD THAT PROCEEDS OUT OF THE MOUTH OF GOD.’" 5  Then the devil took Him into the holy city and had Him stand on the pinnacle of the temple, 6  and said to Him, "If You are the Son of God, throw Yourself down; for it is written, ‘HE WILL COMMAND HIS ANGELS CONCERNING YOU’; and ‘ON their HANDS THEY WILL BEAR YOU UP, SO THAT YOU WILL NOT STRIKE YOUR FOOT AGAINST A STONE.’" 7  Jesus said to him, "On the other hand, it is written, ‘YOU SHALL NOT PUT THE LORD YOUR GOD TO THE TEST.’" 8  Again, the devil took Him to a very high mountain and showed Him all the kingdoms of the world and their glory; 9  and he said to Him, "All these things I will give You, if You fall down and worship me." 10  Then Jesus said to him, "Go, Satan! For it is written, ‘YOU SHALL WORSHIP THE LORD YOUR GOD, AND SERVE HIM ONLY.’" 11  Then the devil left Him; and behold, angels came and began to minister to Him.

Eph 6:10-18

10 ¶ Finally, be strong in the Lord and in the strength of His might.  11  Put on the full armor of God, so that you will be able to stand firm against the schemes of the devil. 12  For our struggle is not against flesh and blood, but against the rulers, against the powers, against the world forces of this darkness, against the spiritual forces of wickedness in the heavenly places. 13  Therefore, take up the full armor of God, so that you will be able to resist in the evil day, and having done everything, to stand firm. 14  Stand firm therefore, HAVING GIRDED YOUR LOINS WITH TRUTH, and HAVING PUT ON THE BREASTPLATE OF RIGHTEOUSNESS, 15  and having shod YOUR FEET WITH THE PREPARATION OF THE GOSPEL OF PEACE; 16  in addition to all, taking up the shield of faith with which you will be able to extinguish all the flaming arrows of the evil one. 17  And take THE HELMET OF SALVATION, and the sword of the Spirit, which is the word of God. 18  With all prayer and petition pray at all times in the Spirit, and with this in view, be on the alert with all perseverance and petition for all the saints,

David said that he was going to whip goliath.

1Sa 17:26-27, 30-37

26 Then David spoke to the men who were standing by him, saying, "What will be done for the man who kills this Philistine and takes away the reproach from Israel? [1] For who is this uncircumcised Philistine, that he should taunt the armies of the living God?"  27  The people answered him in accord with this word, saying, "Thus it will be done for the man who kills him."  29  But David said, "What have I done now? Was it not just a question?" 30  Then he turned away from him to another and [2] said the same thing; and the people answered the same thing as before.

31 ¶  When the words which [3] David spoke were heard, they told them to Saul, and he sent for him. 32  [4] David said to Saul, "Let no man’s heart fail on account of him; your servant will go and fight with this Philistine." 33  Then Saul said to David, "You are not able to go against this Philistine to fight with him; for you are but a youth while he has been a warrior from his youth." 34  But [5] David said to Saul, "Your servant was tending his father’s sheep. When a lion or a bear came and took a lamb from the flock, 35  I went out after him and attacked him, and rescued it from his mouth; and when he rose up against me, I seized him by his beard and struck him and killed him. 36  [6] "Your servant has killed both the lion and the bear; and this uncircumcised Philistine will be like one of them, since he has taunted the armies of the living God." 37  And [7] David said, "The LORD who delivered me from the paw of the lion and from the paw of the bear, He will deliver me from the hand of this Philistine." And Saul said to David, "Go, and may the LORD be with you."

David Rehearsed the victories that the Lord had won for him in the past.

1Sa 17:45-51

45 Then [8] David said to the Philistine, "You come to me with a sword, a spear, and a javelin, but I come to you in the name of the LORD of hosts, the God of the armies of Israel, whom you have taunted.  46  "This day the LORD will deliver you up into my hands, and I will strike you down and remove your head from you. And I will give the dead bodies of the army of the Philistines this day to the birds of the sky and the wild beasts of the earth, that all the earth may know that there is a God in Israel, 47  and that all this assembly may know that the LORD does not deliver by sword or by spear; for the battle is the LORD’S and He will give you into our hands."  48 ¶  Then it happened when the Philistine rose and came and drew near to meet David, that David ran quickly toward the battle line to meet the Philistine. 49  And David put his hand into his bag and took from it a stone and slung it, and struck the Philistine on his forehead. And the stone sank into his forehead, so that he fell on his face to the ground. 50  Thus David prevailed over the Philistine with a sling and a stone, and he struck the Philistine and killed him; but there was no sword in David’s hand. 51  Then David ran and stood over the Philistine and took his sword and drew it out of its sheath and killed him, and cut off his head with it. When the Philistines saw that their champion was dead, they fled.

David Said 8 times what he was going to do.  (Goliath only said it once)

People are never the enemy.  Pray for people when they attack you.

Eph 6:12

For our struggle is not against flesh and blood, but against the rulers, against the powers, against the world forces of this darkness, against the spiritual [forces] of wickedness in the heavenly [places.]

Mt 5:43-48

43 ¶  "You have heard that it was said, ‘YOU SHALL LOVE YOUR NEIGHBOR and hate your enemy.’ 44  "But I say to you, love your enemies and pray for those who persecute you, 45  so that you may be sons of your Father who is in heaven; for He causes His sun to rise on the evil and the good, and sends rain on the righteous and the unrighteous. 46  "For if you love those who love you, what reward do you have? Do not even the tax collectors do the same? 47  "If you greet only your brothers, what more are you doing than others? Do not even the Gentiles do the same? 48  "Therefore you are to be perfect, as your heavenly Father is perfect.Pr 18:21

¶ Death and life are in the power of the tongue, And those who love it will eat its fruit.

Pr 13:2 KJV

¶ A man shall eat good by the fruit of [his] mouth: but the soul of the transgressors [shall eat] violence.

Pr 18:7

A fool’s mouth is his ruin, And his lips are the snare of his soul.

Heb 4:12

For the word of God is living and active and sharper than any two-edged sword, and piercing as far as the division of soul and spirit, of both joints and marrow, and able to judge the thoughts and intentions of the heart.

Re 1:16

In His right hand He held seven stars, and out of His mouth came a sharp two-edged sword; and His face was like the sun shining in its strength.

Re 2:16

‘Therefore repent; or else I am coming to you quickly, and I will make war against them with the sword of My mouth.

Re 19:15

From His mouth comes a sharp sword, so that with it He may strike down the nations, and He will rule them with a rod of iron; and He treads the wine press of the fierce wrath of God, the Almighty.

Re 19:21

And the rest were killed with the sword which came from the mouth of Him who sat on the horse, and all the birds were filled with their flesh.
