Love-Based Boldness
Those who follow Jesus will often find themselves going against the flow of this broken world. How shall we act when opposition, or humiliation, or even persecution stands in our path? Hypocrisy and Legalism: Death Masquerading as Life
Luke 11:37-12:3 In this text, Jesus confronts the Pharisees and Scribes who had substituted a man-made system for heartfelt love and pursuit of God. Built on hypocrisy, legalism claims to offer life, but in reality, it leads only to death.

Show Us A Sign
In response to the miracle of vs. 14, some in the crowd demanded further proof of Jesus' Messianic role. The Savior's Challenge, Part 2: Loving God
Using the story of the Good Samaritan, Jesus teaches us about the privilege of being a loving neighbor. In this story of two sisters, Jesus teaches us the priority of being a listening learner. Together these two stories remind us of the two-fold responsibility we have to love God, and love others.

The Savior's Challenge, Part 1: Loving People
Having just reported that to some the Gospel is hidden, while to others it is revealed, Luke now introduces us to two people to whom the message of the Kingdom is presented. Through the first we learn the challenge of loving people; through the second we learn the priority of loving our God.

The Savior's Joy
When you really love and care about someone, you want to make them happy by doing those things that cause them to rejoice. Having completed their preaching mission, the disciples are now treated to a show of exuberance by the Savior. In this text we learn what brings our Savior real joy. Now that we know, what will we do?

A Disciple's Joy
When it comes to your relationship with Christ, what makes you rejoice? Jesus told his disciples that, as great as it was for them to be exhibiting the power of the Kingdom, the real reason for rejoicing was the deliverance God brings to the heart of faith, a deliverance from death into life.
