Authorized to Forgive

Mark 2:1-12

Mark 2:1-5  The Son of Man exercises His authority to forgive sins by forgiving a paralytic.

A.  Where we are in Jesus' ministry

B.  The enthusiastic response to Jesus' return to Capernaum includes a paralytic and his friends.

Mark 2:6-12  The Son of Man verifies His authority to forgive sins by healing the paralytic.

A.  (2:6-7)  The scribes (Law-experts) had come to check out Jesus' teaching and healing.

B.  (2:8-9)  Jesus' awareness of the scribes' opposition moves Him to ask a question.

C.  (2:10-12)  Jesus validates His authority to forgive sins by exercising His authority to heal.

So what is the significance of this miracle to us?
