Our Conforming, His Transforming

Philippians 3:20-4:1

Introduction: Making present hard conforming choices in light of future transforming is called "the great interchange":

In the Present: We conform to Christ's likeness in humility

In the Future: Christ transforms us into His likeness in glory

Philippians 3:1-4:1 – We should follow Paul's example by standing firm against enemies of the gospel with steadfast fearlessness...

...against their fleshly confidence in 3:1-16

...against their fleshly conduct in 3:17-4:1

(Specifically)

Philippians 3:17-19 – Paul & those who follow his pattern are worthy examples that we should imitate instead those who are enemies of the cross.

Philippians 3:20-21 – How do God's people compare to these gospel-distorters?

3:20 – Our citizenship-in-heaven (not an earthly nation) reveals our true identity.

3:21 – In the future, but not yet (!), our returning Savior will transform our humble bodies by conforming them to His glorious resurrection body.

Philippians 4:1 – Therefore, the bottom line at present is to Stand Firm in the Lord! So, what does our standing firm look like today?
