Throughout history, there has always been a concrete act involved in sealing contracts, treaties, or any other important transaction. This has also been true in covenants made between God and men. In the Old Testament, circumcision was required to enter the Abrahamic Covenant. In the New Testament, we enter into covenant with God through faith in Christ, but there is still a concrete act involved.
