Describing God

Who is God?

The Bible describes God in very personal terms.

Loving Provider,

When God spoke the Ten Commandments to the Israelites:

COMMANDMENT #2

⁴ "You shall not make for yourself an idol in the form of anything in heaven above or on the earth beneath or in the waters below. ⁵ You shall not bow down to them or worship them; for I, the LORD your God, am a jealous God, punishing the children for the sin of the fathers to the third and fourth generation of those who hate me, ⁶ but showing love to a thousand [generations] of those who love me and keep my commandments.   Patient, not slow

What is God?

• Omnipresent
• Omniscient
• Omnipotent

If I described my wife…

It’s not enough to know about God.

God wants us to know Him.

God wants a relationship with us. God is our Father.

• Romans 9:26

How great is the love the Father has lavished on us, that we should be called children of God! And that is what we are! The reason the world does not know us is that it did not know him. 1 John 3:1 (NIV)
