Fathers Day 2008

Luke 15:21-24

I. Attention - Dad's pay attention to your family

Psalms 23:4 - Even though I walk through the valley of the shadow of death, I will fear no evil, for you are with me.

Stay focused on your kids no matter how far they drift.  It's hard to find them when you take your eyes off them.

II. Compassion - compels us to parent with:

Psalms 103:13 - As a father has compassion on his children, so the LORD has compassion on those who fear him.

1. Initiation - you take the lead role.

2. Protection - you fight for their safety.

3. Affection - you personalize your relationship.

III. Celebration -

When we pay attention and parent with compassion, our kids give us reason to celebrate.
