This is the beginning of a new series: God With Us—the meaning of His name, Emmanuel. Sometimes it is necessary to look back at a former experience in order to acknowledge that God was with you at the time. Hindsight is always 20/20 vision especially when it comes to recognizing His presence. The Israelites didn’t recognize God’s presence during the crossing of the Red Sea until after they made it across safely. King David wrote songs about this event 10 generations later. And once you have determined God’s continual abiding presence, step down and let Him take over. The next time you are going through difficulty and can’t imagine God being present, look back later on and you will find that He was there all along.
