Sola Gratia - Grace Alone - Ephesians 2:1-10

October 2017 is the 500th anniversary of the Protestant Reformation! In October of 1517 a young monk named Martin Luther nailed his “95 Theses” (points of dispute) to the cathedral door in Wittenberg, Germany. Armed with the word of God, Luther opposed the unbiblical theology, traditions, and practices of the Roman Catholic Church. The result was a recovery of the true gospel of Jesus Christ. There are 5 Latin phrases that summarize the recovery of the biblical gospel by the Protestant Reformation. Each phrase begins with the word “Sola” which means “only”. They are: Sola Gratia - GRACE ALONE Sola Fide - FAITH ALONE Solus Christus - CHRIST ALONE Sola Scriptura - SCRIPTURE ALONE Soli Deo Gloria - TO GOD ALONE BE GLORY
