1. THE SMARTEST PEOPLE OBEY JESUS' TEACHING.

25 The rain came down, the streams rose, and the winds blew and beat against that house; yet it did not fall, because it had its foundation on the rock. 26 But everyone who hears these words of mine and does not put them into practice is like a foolish man who built his house on sand. 27 The rain came down, the streams rose, and the winds blew and beat against that house, and it fell with a great crash." 2. OBEDIENCE GIVES YOU THE FOUNDATION TO A NEW LIFE.

28 When Jesus had finished saying these things, the crowds were amazed at his teaching, 29 because he taught as one who had authority, and not as their teachers of the law. Matthew 7:25-27 (TNIV)

I'm the great illusionist

quick handed confusionist

flashing resolutions in the dark

Living for appearances

is safer than the fear I sense

when I begin to peer into my heart

I don't like what I see inside my heart

 

Why's my faith so complicated

why have the attempts I've made at

moving forward only found regress

Have I been too quick to add on

this and that innocuous fad

always aware of how I must impress.

But what I see inside I'm not impressed.

 

Simply may I follow you

Learning to believe and do what you say

Jesus, here's a simple faith

 

Can I have community

where people see the ugly me

and lovingly embrace me as I am

I'm unsure but this I know

that this old act has got me nowhere

so I'll ask for grace and take my chance
