Constants In An Age of Change

Today's world is a world of change. Things are constantly changing around us. Some for the good and some for the bad. Change, however, is constant. Today Pastor Wood looks at three constants even in the face of our ever changing world. First, God's power to save has not changed. Second, God's ability to hear and answer prayer has not changed. Finally, the destructiveness of sin in our lives has not changed. Our God continues to be a Holy God.

At the River Crossing

As Pastor Wood begins our text in Joshua today, we find the nation of Israel waiting at the river Jordan to cross. Today, Pastor looks at the challenges of "Crossing the River" that we will face and gives us four things that we don't need to know as we face challenges in our lives. -We don't need to know where God is taking us -We don't need to know what and understand God's plan -We don't need to know when, God's timing is perfect -We don't need to know why, God does not owe us an explanation

A Half Baked Cake

This section has already been inventoried was what the sign at the sporting goods store said at the end of the aisle. Pastor Wood looks at the "inventory" of the prophet Hosea of the people of Israel. Just as Hosea had the people examine themselves to see how God viewed them, we are challenged today to inventory our own Christian lives to see how God views our lives, our actions and our service to Him. Each of us is challenged to ask ourselves, am I a "half baked cake" just like was identified in Hosea? Is my spiritual life growing "gray hair"? Am I changing back and forth with public opinion or am I standing fast in the truth of scripture? Am I dependable for the Lord, hitting the mark consistently, or am I like a weapon that is bent and does not work correctly?

A Tree Climbing Politician

Today Pastor Wood looks at the account of Zacchaeus, a story that our children often know. We look at this account of this man, who was not liked by the Jews, a tax collector for the Roman government and the change in his life. Zacchaeus had an amazing conversion, believing in Christ. At the same time, we see in scripture the outward evidence of the change in his life. It challenges us to evaluate ourselves and see if there is outward evidence that we are disciples of the Lord.

Ezra 9 and the "Space of Grace"

Since the time of the Judges, Israelite men had married the heathen women of the area and adopted their heathen religious practices. The commandment against these interracial marriages was given early in the history of the nation, as a commandment from God to maintain the purity of the nations worship of Himself. Unfortunately, we see in Ezra that this commandment was not followed. Pastor Wood today reveals how as a result of this disobedience of the children of Israel affected their commitment to God. Pastor looks at how this affects the church and Christians today.
