Giving Thanks for God’s Leading
1 Corinthians 16:5-12
Pastor Dennis Keating

(For Scripture references and fill-in the blanks)

THE MAIN POINT: God leads His people. (See Psalm 32:8; Isaiah 30:21; Romans 8:14)

“I will instruct you and teach you in the way which you should go; I will counsel you with My eye upon you.” Psalm 32:8

“Your ears will hear a word behind you, ‘This is the way, walk in it,’ whenever you turn to the right or to the left.” Isaiah 30:21

“For all who are being led by the Spirit of God, these are sons of God.” Romans 8:14

1. As we make plans (16:5)

THE POINT: Don’t be passive; be actively involved in the planning process.

2. As we stay flexible (16:6-7)

THE PRINCIPLE: Flexibility isn’t a sign of weakness, but of humility.

3. Through our opportunities (16:8-9)

THE POINT: Opposition just means there are some who don’t like God’s leading. (See Philippians 1:28)

“. . . in no way alarmed by your opponents — which is a sign of destruction for them, but of salvation for you, and that too, from God.” Philippians 1:28

4. With other people (16:10-11)

THE POINT: Following God’s leading is easier when you know someone has your back!

5. Through personal desires (16:12)

THE KEY INSIGHT: When you’re fully committed to the Lord, your desires will become His desires. (See Psalm 37:4)

“Delight yourself in the LORD; and He will give you the desires of your heart.” Psalm 37:4
