Descriptions of the Kingdom-part 1

Introduction: Last week as we introduced this series of messages we sought to give an introduction to the truths concerning the Kingdom of Jesus. Our study as we go forward will be in two parts. We begin today to look at how the Kingdom of Jesus is described in God’s Word. The second part of this series will focus on how we are to live out the kingdom truths.

Introduction to Kingdom Truths

Introduction: Over the last 9 months God has drawn my heart and my study to give careful consideration to the Kingdom of God. It is also referred to as the Kingdom of Heaven. It is Jesus Kingdom. Jesus spoke of it abundantly. I was amazed in my study at how many times the concept of Kingdom is found in the Gospels especially. For example, the Gospel of Matthew has 28 chapters. Within these 28 chapters there are 49 passages that speak to the concept of Kingdom. In the two verses we have read this morning we receive instruction from Jesus to pray for God’s Kingdom to come. This is described as God’s will being done on earth as it is in heaven. Jesus also instructs us to seek first His Kingdom and Righteousness. Our hope in this introductory message is to begin to help us get a handle on the truths concerning this Kingdom of Jesus.

My Redeemer Lives-Easter Message 2016

Introduction: If in conversation someone mentions the name “Job” most people’s thoughts quickly go to the many troubled Job experienced and endured. Our hope today is to focus our thoughts beyond the troubles to see the beauty of God’s work in Job’s life.

The Transforming Love of God – How it Works (part 4)

Introduction: Over the past few weeks we have given our attention of the concept of knowing, at a deeper level, God’s love for us. We have studied together and have learned that God’s love is a pursuing love, a compelling love and a transforming love. We have learned that God’s love transforms us in 4 primary ways. First, God transforms who we are when we are born again. Second, God transforms what we believe about everything. Third, God then transforms how we live. Fourth, God transforms what we pursue. We know that this is not a one-time process. Ephesians 2:10b describes this ongoing process with the words “we are His workmanship”. The ultimate purpose of this work of transformation is to make us more and more like Jesus in every way and to lead us to the pursuit of God’s Kingdom and Righteousness above everything else. This transformation is a work from the inside out. This transformation is a work of God alone but it does require our cooperation, and/or our willingness. In our study we have focused on two important words. The words are grace and faith. Our experience of transformation by God’s love is a result of God’s grace combined with our faith.
