The Dangers of Pride

Distrust “involves the rejection of God’s will in favor of one’s own will. This sin desires to know the future and is unwilling to accept the unknown.” Vanity “is an inordinate focus—through time, money or other resources—on one’s image. It is an attempt to draw attention to oneself.” Arrogance “is demanding, overbearing and opinionated form of pride.” Snobbery “is pride over race, family, class or other characteristics that artificially create a sense of superiority.” Irreverence “involves neglect of worship and reverence for God.” Disobedience “shows itself in disregarding God’s will and moral laws.” Impenitence “refuses to acknowledge one’s sin or admit that one has wronged another.” Michael Mangis, Signature Sins
