Mission - Why did Jesus Come?

Without Jesus none of us would have any hope for the life to come. We would all be marching towards an eternity in hell. But because of Jesus those of us who’s faith is in Christ as Lord and Savior can be assured that His substitutionary death was enough, that by grace through Faith God will forgive us all our sins. Thank God that Jesus stuck to His mission, that He died so that we can live. And that He rose from the grave, so that we one day can join Him in the resurrection. This is why Jesus came, this is the Good News that we get to share. Please to not keep this information to yourselves. Jesus did not come just for a few to be blessed, He told his followers to share His message to the ends of the earth. So whether someone is your best friend or worst enemy, don’t let them go through life without knowing the truth of the Gospel. You will never set eyes on someone who does not matter to God, who does not warrant an all-out search, and for whom the whole of heaven would not rejoice if he or she were to bow down and confess Christ as Lord.

Who is Jesus?

During his early ministry there were different ideas floating around about who he is, just as there are people today who disagree about who Jesus is. So as we look through Mark Ch. 8, we will be paying attention to how Jesus was described by the people then. Contrasting that with how people vies Jesus today. Then we’ll look at who the Disciples and Christians today know Jesus to be.

God's Role in Evangelism - and Ours

A church without evangelism is a contradiction, just as a fire that does not burn is a contradiction. Don’t let fear prevent someone from hearing the truth. Remember, it is up to God whether or not someone becomes a Christian. Only He can open the eyes and hearts of the lost. We can trust that God will do his part, and we must do ours.

Why Evangelize?

We do not deserve the grace that has been given, but it has been given as a free gift. Although Jesus’ sacrifice is sufficient for the sins of all humans throughout all of time, it is only effective for those whose faith in in Him. This is the Gospel that Jesus taught, it is the message we have come to love, and it is the message we need to share. For we know that the things we do and the things we leave undone in this life have an eternal impact. Let’s not allow that eternal impact to be someone we know missing out on the opportunity to hear the truth of the Good News of Jesus Christ

Idolatry

If we are honest with ourselves, we all have idols in our lives. In the coming weeks we will cover certain idols which people are more prone towards, and even some which entire churches can fall into. So as we hopefully come together to confront the idols in our lives; be mindful so that we aren’t tearing down our idols just to build up new ones. Have a plan in place for where to direct your newly found focus and energy which had previously been consumed in one of your idols. And finally, knowing that a large part of overcoming our idols is realigning ourselves away from the love of idols and towards the love of God, I leave you with this reminder: We cannot brag about our love for God because we fail Him daily. But we can brag about His love for us because His love never fails.
