Experiencing Provision

We have all been in situations in which the accomplishment of something felt impossible and we have prayed to God for help. Did it still feel impossible? Remember, provision comes in a place of abandonment and surrender. We need to start expecting God to show up and do great things, and thinking big! God wants us to have the expectation that He will show up and provide.

Defeating Evil

In Mark 5:1-20, Jesus performs an exorcism. The account shows us evil is real, how it works, and how it’s defeated. To ignore the spiritual reality of evil is simplistic and naïve. How does evil work? The possessed man in the story has extraordinary power that controls him.  Whatever is at the center of a person’s life controls him or her.  How is evil defeated? Jesus says, come out. He IS the Higher Power. We each struggle with internal evil. It is defeated when we realize how much Jesus went through to save us.

Pass Everything On

Don’t let your excuses get in the way of what God wants you to do. When you don’t see God, He is still at work. Pursue God’s plan with patience. God, Abraham and the servant worked together to transfer Abraham’s faith to Isaac.

Lay Everything Down

Genesis 22 recounts a call to unconditional surrender in order to test Abraham to uncover what really goes on in his heart. This interchange on Mount Moriah is also a glimpse of what is to come; although God spares Abraham’s son, when the time comes He does not spare His own Son who is sacrificed for all of us. As we dig deeper into this event in Abraham’s life, ask yourself this question: is God calling you to bring something you love and value to Him so He can be your ultimate provision?
