Was Jesus Really God?
We looked at an amazing verse this last Sunday morning. John 1:18 says that Jesus "explained" God. As I prepared this message, the importance of that word really hit home for me. It also occurred to me that explanations can be very difficult to do. In this instance, the word that is used for "explained" is a very powerful one which means to "bring out" or to "make something clear and understandable." It means to describe in great detail and clarity. And there comes a point when mere human words just break down.

With Grace You Can Walk
One of the wonderful opportunities we have to experience the grace of God is in our small groups. We can come together and share our burdens and our joys, just as the Bible says we should. As believers, we are the "blessed who bless." It is such a joy to be able to share our stories and our songs and our struggles with each other. God gives us grace. We give grace to each other! Small groups such as Sunday School and home groups are a great setting to say to each other, "by the grace of God, I am what I am."

By Grace You are Secure
Last Sunday’s message dealt with what is often called “eternal security.†I’d prefer we call it “eternal grace.†It is “grace that is greater than all our sins†as the hymn says. It is grace that never lets go even if we are afraid we might. It is grace that does not require our hanging on to the rungs with sweaty palms as we ascend toward heaven. It is grace that doesn’t require climbing a ladder at all – only a cross. On that cross, the Son of God gave His life for us. And at the foot of that cross is the solid ground of eternal grace on which to stand. And because of that cross, we are changed, transformed, born again, never to turn back. How sweet is the security we have in Jesus when we think back on how insecure life was without Him. How wonderful it is to know that our security is neither temporary nor conditional. We belong to Him for all eternity. We are forever changed and we are forever saved

By Grace You Have Been Saved
God allows painful things to happen to us. But God is never mean. He was not being mean to Jacob by dislocating his hip joint. Quite to the contrary, God gave Jacob the best gift he had ever received up to that point in his life. God gave Jacob a reason to stop trusting Jacob and start trusting Him. Centuries later, Paul would talk about his thorn in the flesh as a source of strength from God because “when I am weak, then I am strong.†God is always there at the end of your rope, ready to say, “Ok, let go and let Me hold on to YOU now. You’ve done it your way long enough. Now, let’s try Mine.â€
