7 Qualities Of A Godly Father

A Godly father or step-father can have a profound impact on the lives of his children and others within his circle of influence. Sadly, the lack of a strong father can have a detrimental effect that can be very difficult to overcome. Fatherhood can seem to be an daunting task, but God will equip us for any task to which He calls us. Even if we don't know what a good father is or does, we can look to the Bible for help. This sermon highlights seven qualities of a Godly father and what the Bible has to say about each of these qualities. We need good fathers and we have a perfect father in heaven who will help us grow into the kind of father He wants us to be.

Rendering Honor: The Government (4)

In the last of the series on honor, we learn that government is the final authority that God instructs us to honor. God is king of all kings. He rules all of His creation. Nothing happens outside His authority. So, even governments are under His authority. The people who are in our government are ministers of God, helping us, God's people, on His behalf. Government people deserve our respect. To resist government is to resist God. If we try to avoid all government authority, we are pulling ourselves away from every safeguard that God has put in place for our protection. The primary responsibility of government is to keep its citizens safe. There are times when government becomes corrupt. What should we do then? This sermon explains how to handle this while honoring God, who is the highest authority we are subject to.

Rendering Honor: The Pastor (3)

The third level of authority we are to honor is the church, and specifically, the pastor. Our pastors watch over our souls and our spiritual well-being. They teach us, pray for us,counsel us and bring God's word to us every week. God, through our pastors, uses His word to bless our lives. God reveals Himself and His will to us as we listen with an open heart to the message He has given our pastor. Pastors will have to give an account to God for the job they have done in shepherding us. Therefore, we should show our pastors honor, knowing that God has called them to this work for the kingdom.

Rendering Honor: Father And Mother (2)

In this sermon, we explore honor within the family. Learning and developing honor starts at home. Parents can do a great deal of harm by failing to teach honor or by being unworthy of honor. If we fail as parents in this task, we not only fail our children, but we fail society as a whole. This sermon shows us what the Bible has to say to parents about raising children. Parents are in a unique and influential position to guide and teach children that we should honor others and ourselves because of the potential of Christ in each person and the potential Christ brings to each life.

Rendering Honor: Who Is Owed Honor? (1)

This is the first in a series of four sermons on honor, what honor is, how important it is and what the lack of honor has done to our society. As a society, we have almost abandoned the whole idea of of honor. This has had a very negative effect on our society, causing a decline in our quality of life. It has had a detrimental effect on how we raise our children and on our relationships with one another. Many of the most disturbing events in the news as well as in the private lives of teenagers are the result of this lack of honor in our homes and in society in general. Giving honor must with Christians.
