The Beatitudes 5 - Blessed Are You When Others Revile You And Persecute You

In this final sermon on the Beatitudes, we learn that Jesus tells us we are blessed when we are persecuted and reviled on His account, and that our reward will be great in heaven. Beatitude means supreme blessing. Following the Lord is the surest way to find joy in life. This is true even though others might persecute and revile us. We are called to live for God's approval and not the approval of man. This sermon gives us a list of specific things to do if we want to live for God. When we choose to do this, we receive blessings now and rewards in heaven.

The Beatitudes 4 - Blessed Are The Peacemakers

We continue to study the supreme blessings we know as the Beatitudes. This sermon is focused on peacemakers. Jesus tells us the peacemakers shall be called the children of God. What does it mean to grieve the Holy Spirit? The way we treat others, fellow church members, neighbors, even those we consider to be friends and loved ones, can grieve the Holy Spirit. As true peacemakers, we should actively be kind, giving and forgiving to others. We cannot be right with God, and therefore be blessed by God, if we do not truly love our neighbor as we love ourselves. Our behavior toward others should show the world that we are peacemakers.

The Beatitudes 2 - Blessed Are The Meek

In the second sermon in the Beatitudes series, we learn what it means to be meek, that we can choose to become meek and we will be blessed. Jesus says the meek will inherit the earth. Meekness is gentle, does not need its own way, is not assertive and delights in peace. When we look at our own lives, are we worthy of being called meek? Do we go into the world in love? Jesus modeled meekness even though He was God. Jesus made himself nothing, taking the form of a servant, being born in the likeness of men. Will we follow the example of Jesus and be meek?

The Beatitudes 1 - Blessed Are The Poor In Spirit

Jesus waited 30 years to begin preaching. His first message was this sermon we know as the Beatitudes. For thousands of years, Israel thought they knew who God was, that He was a wrathful judge in heaven, but the first thing Jesus says in His first message is "Blessed . . ." We are blessed in Christ in many ways. Learn what it means to be 'poor in spirit' and how to inherit the Kingdom of Heaven.

The Black Robed Regiment

One of the first things God did after getting the people of Israel out of Egypt was to establish their identity as a people whose foundation was God, who worshiped God and who talked about God. Like Israel, the foundation of the United States was God. Most of the signers of the Declaration of Independence held degrees from seminaries. It was the pastors who inspired the people of the newly formed United States to rise up against the British. God has never asked us to sit back and watch the development of His people, nation or kingdom. He has asked us to participate. He has asked the American people to stand up and show the world what would happen when a nation said yes to God. Our founders knew that our constitution is wholly inadequate to govern an unrighteous people, who have removed themselves from God. This sermon details the situation we find ourselves in today.
