Rendering Honor: Father And Mother (2)

In this sermon, we explore honor within the family. Learning and developing honor starts at home. Parents can do a great deal of harm by failing to teach honor or by being unworthy of honor. If we fail as parents in this task, we not only fail our children, but we fail society as a whole. This sermon shows us what the Bible has to say to parents about raising children. Parents are in a unique and influential position to guide and teach children that we should honor others and ourselves because of the potential of Christ in each person and the potential Christ brings to each life.

Rendering Honor: Who Is Owed Honor? (1)

This is the first in a series of four sermons on honor, what honor is, how important it is and what the lack of honor has done to our society. As a society, we have almost abandoned the whole idea of of honor. This has had a very negative effect on our society, causing a decline in our quality of life. It has had a detrimental effect on how we raise our children and on our relationships with one another. Many of the most disturbing events in the news as well as in the private lives of teenagers are the result of this lack of honor in our homes and in society in general. Giving honor must with Christians.

Two to One: Finances and Roles (4)

The fourth and final session deals with finances and our roles in marriage. Money and finances is the number one cause of divorce and money problems can creep into and damage the other pillars of the marriage. Bro. Don gives us five tips to help us deal with money and finances, and he warns us about common mistakes to avoid. We should try to learn how to use money the way God wants us to. We also discuss our roles in marriage. If we don't fulfill our different roles within our marriage, it can cause stress and conflict. First, though, we must figure out what our roles are. This will be different for every marriage and may change over time. Our marriage will be truly blessed if we earnestly seek God's guidance in our marriage so that it can be the blessing to us that God intends it to be.

The Pool of Bethesda

Jesus went to the Pool of Bethesda. A multitude of invalids were there hoping to be healed. One man, who was lame, had been coming to the pool for 38 years, each day hoping that he would be healed. Why did Jesus heal this man and no one else? This man, knowing he was unable to fix his problem on his own, looked to Jesus. Jesus healed him. Do we need something from God today, something that is beyond our ability to fix, something that we've been struggling with for a long time? Are we willing to try something new? Will we look to Jesus?

More Than A Carpenter: Science and New Atheism (4)

The fourth sermon in this series can be used to combat some of the criticisms of Christianity. It will also explore the questions around science and new atheism. Can Christ be proven scientifically? Do faith and science disagree? Is science a legitimate reason to disbelieve in God? Currently, it's "en vogue" to claim to be an atheist. Many people think it makes them appear more intellectual. It has also become very common for Christians to be ridiculed for their beliefs. We learn in this sermon that faith and science do not disagree. Rather, they are in harmony. This sermon presents overwhelming evidence for us to be confident in our belief in Jesus Christ and the God of the Bible.
