Our year of the message closes with the final two chapters in the Revelation of the Apostle John. These two chapters describe the passing away of the first earth bringing us full circle to where we began in the Year of the Message, beginning to end, creation to new creation. Now we are looking to the future. The cosmic drama that we now find ourselves a part of has a certain ending. John's glimpse into the future some 1900 years ago remains as ours today but we know that we are closer to the realization of that vision.

Certainly a coming generation that we will impact, and perhaps we ourselves, will be the last to inhabit the "old earth." That is sobering news. John's vision recorded here is both comforting as it gives us certainty of the beautiful and perfect things to come, and convicting as we realize that not all will be glad participants in the glory of God that we will see on that day. There is plenty of work left to do but retirement is looking pretty sweet.
