The Kingdom of the Saints
0 Amens
The first half of the Book of Daniel reads something like an historical narrative of the years of his exile in Babylon. The second half, beginning with Chapter 7, chronicles the visions of Daniel and includes a power prayer (Chapter 9).
The visions of Daniel have a troubling effect upon him. He turns pale and falls silent. We may be troubled, too, by these powerful prophetic visions. The term “Ancient of Days” occurs in Daniel 7:13 along with “Son of man.” Jesus used “Son of man” as his favorite title for himself.
Daniel sees from the depths of his captivity that God is at work in his world. He announces a great victory to come. He does not despair for the people of God—and neither should we.
