Dear Friends in Christ,
First Lutheran Church seeks to feed Jesus' sheep and seek and save the lost according to the pure teaching of the Gospel and faithful administration of the Sacraments. We are a historic congregation with worship, study, and preaching that treasure the truth and beauty of Biblical Lutheran theology and the Reformation Era. First Lutheran has been serving and worshiping in the Knoxville community since 1869.
Our main mission emphasis is our Christian Day School (3 years old through 8th grade). In addition, we host a Lutheran campus ministry outreach at the University of Tennessee. We offer Sunday School and Bible Classes for all ages, an active youth group, a vibrant women's missionary league, 55 Alive for seniors, and vocal and hand bell choirs. Prospective members receive instruction in the Lutheran faith by attending a 6-week series of classes, I Have Good News For You! We serve lunch on a rotating schedule at the Knoxville Area Rescue Mission (K.A.R.M.).
As a member of the Lutheran Church-Missouri Synod, we emphasize Witness, Mercy, and Life Together. Come to First Lutheran Church to receive Christ's Word and Sacraments and get involved in opportunities to serve Him and our neighbors in need.
In Christ's Service,
The Reverend Paul Bushur, Senior Pastor
The Reverend Derek Roberts, Associate Pastor
